18th This is a Hindi poem from my journal that I wrote when I was 18 years old. In this piece of writing I express my fear about losing my little independence…. I express the hurt that I feel because of my family’s treatment of me, because I was born a girl. I am frustrated as I feel restricted and restrained. I fear my dad’s fury, my mum’s sarcasm and my brother’s scolding. There is another being in the house who feels the same as me …. My sister! She doesn’t have the strength to break the shackles, she’s scared… I can do…BUT I fear the consequences.
